Endocrine surgeon
An endocrine surgeon performs a range of surgical procedures on patients suffering from diseases of the endocrine system. They often work closely with endocrine specialists to diagnose and then treat endocrine disorders especially as many of these have to be controlled over a long period of time.
The endocrine system is a network of glands which produce and release hormones into the body where they perform a range of essential functions. An example of this is the adrenal glands which produce adrenaline – a hormone which triggers the fight or flight response in the body as a reaction to a threat.
